RE: Golf Cart operation on area streets
From: MLHOA Board of Directors and IMPD
Date: 9/17/2020
This letter is to inform you of developments this year with increasing use of golf carts in use on our area
residential streets in unsafe and sometimes dangerous manner.
Due to several near miss accidents and several examples of poor decisions especially by young golf cart
operators, including running stop signs and doing 180-degree U-turns into traffic, IMPD has asked the
Board to inform residents that the operation of golf carts on any Indianapolis residential street is not
permitted by law.
For the safety of all residents they are asking that operation of golf carts cease and have asked that the
use of golf cart activity be reported to the non-emergency number 317-327-3811 or 311 on your mobile
phones.
The information is being mailed to all homeowners because they would rather not issue citations, but
they cannot continue to look the other way, because a serious accident is almost a certain outcome.
